Whilst it is obvious to anyone who visits beautiful Lake Macquarie they are enjoying a special part of Australia, there are a few points which may not be so obvious -

  • Lake Macquarie provides non-tidal, flat waters virtually year round
  • With 150km of magnificent foreshore, Lake Macquarie is four times the size of Sydney Harbour and is many times less crowded
  • With deep water and consistent winds, Lake Macquarie provides the perfect conditions for the serious business of yacht racing and regattas
  • There is ocean access for yachts drawing up to two metres and easy land access for trailable boats of all kinds
  • Lake Macquarie provides some of the best cruising grounds and safest all-weather anchorages on the east coast
  • Lake Macquarie is not burdened with commercial shipping
  • Lake Macquarie has regular NE sea breezes in summer
